Ann of St. Louis, MO, experienced a systemic failure when her son was struck by a hit-and-run driver. When she sought help, she discovered critical gaps: police did not prioritize investigating without witness reports, personal injury attorneys would not take the case because she didn't own insured vehicle, and she had no systematic way to locate camera footage or identify witnesses. Faced with these barriers, Ann created a hit-and-run victim advocacy program that helps survivors locate motorists, compile camera footage, and navigate legal and insurance systems. The Mate3 Activism Support Fund recognized the program's impact and provided initial funding to expand it.
